After years of sciatica and consequently sleepless nights, I decided to try acupuncture. By my 8th session I was having substantially less pain and my sleep had improved immensely, I also noticed great improvement in my general health, decreased digestion discomfort, and a real feeling of well being. I can now enjoy long walks and especially like not taking pain killers and anti-inflammatory medication."

About Acupuncture

Have you ever wondered whether acupuncture might be able to help you with some of those nagging ailments that have been bothering you? Please see our Frequently Asked Questions page.

Traditional Acupuncture
The WHO lists a number of conditions for which it recommends acupuncture as either the primary or ancillary treatment: digestive (abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, hyperacidity, indigestion); emotional (anxiety, depression, insomnia, nervousness, neurosis); eye-ear-throat (cataracts, gingivitis, poor vision, tinnitus [ringing ears], toothache); gynecological (infertility, menopausal symptoms, premenstrual symptoms); musculoskeletal (arthritis, back pain, muscle cramping, muscle pain and weakness, neck pain, sciatica); neurological (headaches, migraines, neurogenic bladder dysfunction, Parkinson's disease, postoperative pain, stroke); respiratory (asthma, bronchitis, common cold, sinusitis, smoking cessation, tonsillitis); skin conditions (excema, acne, rashes, shingles); and other problems that many people struggle with (addiction control, athletic performance, blood pressure regulation, chronic fatigue, immune system tonification, stress reduction).

Facial Acupuncture Rejuvenation
Please note: Joleen was trained by Mary Elizabeth Wakefield, who pioneered this technique at the Canyon Ranch Spas as a safer alternative to Botox or surgical facelifts

Benefits include:

Improving collagen production and muscle tone

Helps reduce bags and sagging tendencies

Refines fine lines and reduces larger wrinkles

Helps reduce double chin and lift drooping eyelids

Helps eliminate edema and puffiness

Improves metabolism

Tightens pores and brightens eyes

Increases local blood and lymph circulation

Improves facial color

Reduces stress and promotes total health and well-being

The treatments are typically 1½ hours long and include facial acupuncture and/or acupressure, the application of two herbal face masks, use of aromatherapy, and herbal moisturizing.

In addition to the treatments applied to the face, the session includes a constitutional body treatment, which uses the benefits of the acupuncture points on the rest of the body.
