About Acusage Acupuncture: Joleen MacEachern Because I like to know a lot about my patients so I can treat them as effectively as possible, I thought I'd give you some information on me as well so we can start building a productive, trusting relationship. I graduated from UCSB in 1995 with a degree in Philosophy, emphasizing ethics and public policy. I was a member of the crew team there, but in high school I was a 4-year varsity swimmer. I still enjoy swimming, especially with my kids! I've been practicing acupuncture since 2002, when I received a master's degree from the Santa Barbara College of Oriental Medicine's (SBCOM). From 2003 to 2007, I volunteered my services to Healing Opportunities, a local nonprofit that treated caregivers of people with life-threatening illnesses. I also held a position on the SBCOM Board of Directors until 2007. I trained to become an acupuncturist because I respect the idea that a person must be seen holistically, and that the parts are only a sum of the whole. Without acknowledging this, a person's maladies could be chased around for years, since (as often happens in Western, or allopathic, medicine) only the symptoms are treated, not the person. Despite my hectic professional schedule, I manage to carve out time for family and friends. I love to cook for them, and it's gradually becoming a passion. I enjoy good wine and good food (not necessarily in that order :), and I truly love my job! I hope to meet you soon. My
best wishes of health and happiness to you,
